The
Royal Chitwan National Park stands out as one of the
richest and most scenic wildlife reserves in Asia Lying in
the sub-tropical lowlands 165 kms. southwest of Kathmandu an
area of 976 sq. About 56 different species of animals and
more than 400 species of birds have been identified here.
Today, The Royal Chitwan National Park is one of
the few areas having the great Royal Bangal Tiger, one
horned Rhino and rare fish eating Gharial crocodile. All
once endangered species in abundance. A visit to Chitwan is
not only a wildlife experience, but also a cultural too. The
Tharus who are the main farming community, living in the
periphery of the park is a unique ethnic group of people
with very interesting traditions and culture.
